There are so many ways to cook food and each technique will give you different results and flavours, here are just a few cooking techniques you can use;

boiling, slow boiling, poaching, simmering, sautéing, frying, broiling, grilling, microwaving, roasting, steaming, braising and baking.

Here are just some of the most popular ingredients used in recipes today;

Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Fish, olive oil, garlic, herbs, mushrooms, mixed spices, wine, cheese, rice, pasta, tomatoes , potatoes, vegetables, oats, nuts, honey, couscous, milk, eggs, buter, yogurt, apples, lemmons.

Learning to cook is one life skill that will remain with you forever, there is no substitute for being able to rustle something up for yourself, partner or your family and friends.

If you have never cooked before, then starting out can be daunting as there is so much terminology used which may confuse you and sometimes recipe books assume you know what they mean.

Start with a few basic things, try not to use too many ingredients at first, keep it simple and fresh. It's good to experiment, so don't be afraid to put your own spin on things.

Everyone has to start somewhere, so why not start by familiarising yourself with a few basic techniques, such as boiling, this is a very simple technique which is ideal for beginners. You can boil potatoes or vegetables to get yourself used to using this technique.

Next thing to try would be frying, using a small to medium frying pan why not try something like an egg or bacon, or maybe try making an omelette.
